The 90-minute workshop is intended for anyone who wants to learn basic information about the use of processing factors and risk assessment in pesticide analysis.
Regulation 396/2005 covers MDC values for unprocessed products. The processing effect at the residue level depends on the matrix itself, but also on the pesticide and is correlated with the individual physico-chemical properties of pesticides. Given that there is no single source of data for all pesticides and matrices, various sources of processing factor are used in pesticide analysis. During the workshop, various examples of the use of processing factors and the impact on the final evaluation of the results, using or not using them will be passed.
In recent years, pesticides have been one of the most common or most commonly identified hazards within the implementation of official controls and monitoring, both in the European Union and in the Republic of Croatia, within the RASFF system. During the workshop, we will show which parameters are needed and how to assess the actual, acute (short-term) exposure to pesticide residues through human nutrition, when laboratory analysis determines the exceedance of the MDK value in a particular product.

About workshop leaders:
Doc. dr. sc. Iva Pavlinić Prokurica
Doc. dr. sc. Iva Pavlinić Prokurica is employed at HAPIH, where she serves as coordinator for rasff system, and is also an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Rijeka, department of health ecology. He participates in classes in the courses "Pesticides" and "Legal Regulations". For the past 20 years, he has been actively engaged in the field of food safety, i.e. contaminants in food, with special emphasis on pesticide residues in food. It conducts a risk assessment for consumers in each exceedance of MDK for pesticides in food for the needs of all official controls in the Republic of Croatia and is the coordinator on behalf of HAPIH, as the competent body for risk assessment in the Republic of Croatia in the implementation of the National Program of monitoring pesticide residues in and on food. She is the author of many professional and scientific papers in the field of risk assessment and pesticide residues and has actively participated as a lecturer at many national and international symposia, workshops and congresses.
Dr. sc. Gordana Jurak, B.Sc. Ing.
Dr. sc. Gordana Jurak, B.Sc. ing., she is the head of the Department of Analytical Techniques of the Department of Health Ecology of the Teaching Institute of Public Health "Dr. Andrija Štampar" and since 2018 she is the head of the National Reference Laboratory for Pesticides (NRL). During the last 20 years she has been actively engaged in pesticide analyses, and as the head of the reference laboratory she has participated in various activities of the European Reference Laboratories for Pesticides. He is a senior lecturer in the subject "Pesticides" at the University of Applied Health Sciences, Zagreb. She is a member of the Working Group of the Ministry of Agriculture Codex alimentarius for pesticides and the commission of the Croatian Food Agency, related to chemical hazards. She is the author of many scientific and professional papers in the field of pesticide residues and has actively participated as a lecturer at many national and international symposia.
